On the January 15, 1848, Mariamma and Kochumathai of the Chathuruthi house in Mullanthuruthi had a son born to them. The child was named Geevargese an he grew up as a child of God. The child was so spiritually motivated that by the age of 9, he was ordained as a sub-deacon (Kooryo). At the age of 17, Mor Koorilose Yuyakim ordained Geevarghese as a full deacon (Shamsono) and within a few months after this, he was attained ordination as both a Kassiso (priest) and Corepiscopa. Within a period of 7 years, he was ordained as a Ramban (Monk-priest) and on Sunday, December 10, 1876, he was ordained as Metropolitan Mor Gregorios by Patriarch of Antioch & all The East, His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Peter IV. The life and works of this saint has been retold hundreds of times over the last century. He was well liked, respected and revered. Mor Gregorios was called to his heavenly abode on November 2, 1902. His mortal remains are entombed at St. Peter's Church, Parumala. Mor Gregorios was the Metropolitan of Parumala and hence he was commonly known as "Parumala Thirumeni". This church has been established with Mor Gregorios as her Patron Saint. We, the members of this church, believe in his intercession.
